Boubacar Boris Diop was born in 1946 in Dakar, Senegal. He was successively adviser to the Senegalese Ministry of Culture and professor of literature and philosophy. It has also long worked as a journalist and leading the Senegalese daily Le Matin . He published his first book in 1981: Time Tamango is a political fiction novel that announces the engaged tone and writing demanding of its author. Noticed three novels later, actively involved in politics and defense of the cultures of Africa, Boubacar Boris Diop went with ten other African writers in Rwanda in 1998, four years after the genocide, and participates in the collective of writing "Rwanda: writing as a duty of memory. Rwanda: writing as a duty of memory. This writing residency will create a new book, Murambi, the book of bones (2000). In 2003, he explored writing in Wolof Doomi Golo (that result in Les Petits the monkey in 2009).
addition to his work as a novelist Boubacar Boris Diop is also a playwright ( Thiaroye red earth, in 1990), writer, essayist. Under this last cap, he is the author of Africa beyond the mirror (2007) and co-authored books negrophobia (with François-Xavier Verschave Tobner and Odile, 2005), Africa in relief of the West (Anne-Cécile Robert, 2006) and Coming out of hell (Jean-Marie Vianney Rurangwa, 2007).
